16 New Car Launches In March-April, 2020

The past two months have been quite eventful for the Indian automobile industry. We have witnessed some big car launches including Altroz hatchback, Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, new Vitara Brezza and several BS6-compliant models and facelifts. In the upcoming months (March and April), there will be over a dozen new car launches from different car manufacturers in different segments. Here’re the top 15 upcoming models that will hit showrooms in March or April, 2020.
1. New-Gen Hyundai Creta
Hyundai India has confirmed that it will launch the second-generation Creta SUV on 16th March, 2020. Official bookings of the vehicle have already been commenced. In fact, the 2020 Hyundai Creta has gathered over 10,000 bookings in just 7 days. The SUV’s new model received significant cosmetic changes along with a comprehensively revised interior. Based on the modified K2 platform, the new Creta shares its engines and gearboxes with its arch rival – Kia Seltos.
2. Volkswagen T-Roc
After the Tiguan AllSpace 7-seater SUV, the German carmaker will bring in the T-Roc SUV that has received over 300 bookings so far. The company will announce its official prices on 18th March, 2020. In India, it will be made available with a 1.5L TSI engine with VW’s 4Motion drivetrain system. Boosted the Active Cylinder Technology (ACT), the motor promises a top power of 147bhp and 250Nm of torque.
3. Hyundai Verna Facelift
The South Korean carmaker will also launch the updated version of the Verna sedan in coming weeks. The new model can be pre-booked by paying a sum of Rs 25,000. The 2020 Hyundai Verna will offer 45 connectivity features along with the BlueLink connected car technology. This time around, the sedan will also receive 3 new BS6-compliant engines including a 115bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel, a 118bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and a 115bhp, 1.5L petrol.
4. Hyundai Elantra Diesel
Hyundai Elantra facelift was introduced in October last year. At present, the SUV comes with a BS6-complaint 2.0L petrol engine that’s good for 152PS and 192Nm. The model lineup will soon receive a BS6-ready 1.5L diesel engine that’s likely to power the new-generation Creta and Verna facelift. The oil burner delivers a peak power of 113bhp. No other changes will be made to the vehicle.
5. New-Gen Honda City
The fifth-generation Honda City is, undoubtedly, one of the big launches of the year. The carmaker has confirmed that the new City will be unveiled on 16th March and its prices are likely to be announced on the same day. Compared to the current generation, the new one will be bigger and more up-market. The mid-size sedan will come with a BS6-compliant 1.5L i-VTEC petrol and 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engines delivering 119bhp and 99bhp respectively.
6. Maruti Suzuki Dzire Facelift
Maruti Suzuki’s top-selling compact sedan – Dzire – is ready to receive a mid-life update in coming weeks. While the official launch details are yet to be announced, it’s reported to go on sale by the end of March, 2020. This time around, the vehicle will come with a more powerful 90bhp, 1.2L K12C dualjet petrol engine instead of the 83bhp, 1.2L K12B petrol unit. The new gasoline motor will deliver better mileage and reduce emission levels.
7. Honda WR-V Facelift
After the new-generation City, the Japanese carmaker will bring in the WR-V facelift. The carmaker will announce its prices by the end of March, 2020. With the mid-life update, the compact SUV will receive BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines. Minimal changes will be made to its exterior and interior including LED package and new front grille.
8. New-Gen Mahindra Thar
Mahindra Thar is set to enter into its next generation in the second week of April, 2020. The off-road SUV’s new model will receive noticeable design changes along with a better equipped interior. The new Thar might come with a touchscreen infotainment system with latest smartphone connectivity. Major changes will also be made under the hood. The 2020 Mahindra Thar will come with the BS6-compliant 2.2L diesel and 2.0L mStallion petrol engine option.
9. Mahindra XUV300 Sportz
Mahindra XUV300 Sportz will be the brand’s first vehicle to feature the new 1.2L turbo petrol engine that pushes out 130bhp with 230Nm. Slated to launch in April, the XUV300 Sportz will also make it the most powerful petrol vehicle in its category. Visually, the Sportz version looks slightly different than the regular model. The new body graphics, all-black interior, red highlights on the dashboard and contrasting red stitching on the seats mark a distinction.
10. Toyota’s Vitara Brezza
If reports are to be believed, Toyota might bring in its Maruti Vitara Brezza based SUV in mid April, 2020. In terms of design and styling, it will be significantly different from the Vitara Brezza. The SUV might receive new front grille, revised bumpers, newly-designed alloys and updated taillamps. Interior could be revised with new seat upholstery and dashboard in new colour combo. Toyota’s Vitara Brezza based SUV will come with a 1.5L K15B petrol engine boosted with SHVS technology.
11. Mahindra Bolero Facelift
Mahindra & Mahindra will update the Bolero SUV with BS6-compliant engine and minor changes inside and out. The 2020 Bolero facelift might come in three variants – B4, B6, B6 (O) and is likely to get expensive by up to Rs 50,000. The updated model will get a new grille, re-designed bumper, new headlamps with black inserts and chrome all around the body. Powering the vehicle will be the BS6-ready 71bhp, 1.5L diesel engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
12. Maruti S-Cross Petrol
Showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol will hit roads in month of April. Under the hood, the vehicle will feature a BS6-compliant 1.5L K15B petrol engine with Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid system. The motor will come with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Its power and torque figures will stand at 103.5bhp and 138Nm respectively. Design and features of the S-Cross petrol will be exactly similar to the diesel model.
13. Hyundai Tucson Facelift
Previewed at this year’s Auto Expo, the Hyundai Tucson facelift will see a release in April, 2020. The SUV will come in three variants – GL 2WD, GLS 2WD and GLS 4WD – and two engine options. While the petrol model will use a 150bhp, 2.0L motor, the diesel version will get a 182bhp, 2.0L unit. There will be an 8-speed automatic and a 6-speed automatic gearbox on offer. With tweaked styling and more features, the 2020 Hyundai Tucson looks premium than the outgoing model.
14. New Force Gurkha
Scheduled to launch in April, the all-new Force Gurkha is surely far better than the existing one. The off-road SUV has a new chassis and bodyshell and meets the new crash test and upcoming pedestrian safety norms. Design and styling is more rugged than before. Inside the cabin, the SUV has a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital MID, new instrument console and newly-designed dashboard with hard plastic.
15. Renault Duster Turbo Petrol
Renault Duster compact SUV will soon be launched with a new 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine generating a maximum power of 156bhp and 250Nm of torque. The new gasoline motor, which has been developed by Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance and Daimler, will come as a replacement to the 1.5L petrol engine. The Duster turbo petrol will be more powerful than the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox.
16. Skoda Karoq
Skoda Karoq will be the first vehicle to roll out under Skoda’s India 2.0 project that will go on sale in April, 2020. Unveiled at this year’s Auto Expo, the Karoq will come to India as a CBU (Completely Built Up) unit. It will be made available with a petrol engine only. The SUV will source its power from a BS6-ready 1.5L TSI direct injection turbo motor that’s good for 148bhp and 250Nm. A 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox will be standard across the SUV lineup.
